I began my mind-body journey at 24 years old as a fitness instructor. I led hundreds of women in high-energy aerobics and strength classes; we had a sweaty blast! A few years later, I received my Health Coaching certification from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) , which taught me the importance of leading a nutritious lifestyle. Yet, with all this success, I felt flawed. I couldn’t help but wonder: Why was I binge eating? Why couldn't I lessen my “thunder thighs?'' Why didn't I feel internally happy and good enough, even though I ate healthily and exercised daily?
I realized that my unhealthy obsession with having the “perfect” body began in my childhood. Growing up in the 80s, there was constant advertising of what a woman’s body was “supposed” to look like. Seeing this as a young and impressionable girl, I aspired to reach that beauty standard. This led me to waste my time dieting and over-exercising. Finally, I realized that the system had failed me. I am not flawed. I do not need to strive for the “perfect” body with thighs that don't touch and a jean size that is too small for my hips. That's when I said, “I quit!”
In accepting my body, I became physically, mentally, and emotionally free! I felt the need to tell every girl and woman “We can love our bodies!” We can talk positively about ourselves and learn to eat intuitively.
In 2009 I began my training as an intenSati leader, educated and certified under the founder and creator, Patricia Moreno. I spent years wiring my brain to think positively about my body and life. Today, I am dedicated to teaching others these powerful life-changing practices through classes and workshops. I am excited to continue to inspire women and girls to engage their minds and body in discovering the love within themselves.
